Application

We use personality and temperament as a way to place our puppies with the right families. We want each puppy to have the best chance of finding the perfect family and we want to make sure each family finds the best matched puppy for them. We accept a deposit once puppies are born and healthy. This deposit does not reserve a specific puppy. Rather it guarantees a puppy from that litter. If we decide there is not a puppy that matches a family's lifestyle we will either return the deposit or roll it over to the next litter. At 7 weeks old each puppy is temperament tested to help determine what family will best fit them. We work with each family to pick their perfect puppy for the family's lifestyle at 7 weeks old. We do not allow families to pick a specific puppy prior to 7 weeks. We understand color and gender are factors in choosing a puppy, but we believe temperament and personality are far more important when choosing a puppy.

• Do you understand that purchasing one of our puppies is a life long commitment? If you are at any time unable to care for your puppy, we must be notified and will take the puppy back for re-homing. 
• Do you understand that your puppy will require vaccines, yearly medical care, and spay/Neuter? Owning a puppy is not cheap and must be accounted for when purchasing.
• If your application is approved, we do require a meeting via video call. This is an important part in ensuring our puppies go to the right home. Will you be willing to meet via video call?
• We place our puppies based on their temperament and personalities. We want our puppies to find the perfect forever home. Volhard puppy aptitude testing takes place when the puppies are 7 weeks old. This test helps us evaluate what type of home will be best for our puppies. Up until that time we can video with you and will send picture updates weekly to help pick which puppy is right for you. We do have a waitlist and picks will be based on waitlist order. Deposits will be taken once a puppy is chosen at 7 weeks old. Will you be willing to wait until the puppies are 7 weeks old to pick the right puppy for you?

• All our puppies are sold with limited AKC registration and are required to be spayed or neutered. Are you willing to spay/neuter your puppy at the appropriate age? We rarely sell with full AKC rights and an additional fee will apply if approved for AKC full breeding rights.
